How to Start Marketing Your Book - Sell Yourself

If you want to sell your book, first you have to sell yourself. It really does not get any more basic than that. Many new authors mistakenly believe the work they have to do ends when their book ends, too. This is not true at all. The moment you finish your book is the moment the real work starts. And, the best way to start marketing your book is by selling yourself.
You see, unless you are already a well-known author, it won't do you any good to just put up a book on Amazon. If no one knows who you are, what is it you're good at, and whether or not your book is a good read, that book you worked so long and hard for won't sell at all. Start by selling yourself. Sell your reputation, sell your knowledge, sell your authority. If you can get people interested in you, you can get them interested in your work, too.
How do you sell yourself? There are many ways to do this, but start with social media. It's quick, it's easy, it's free. After you have established yourself as a social media authority on a specific subject, focus your attention on television, radio, and local print media next. They are always on the look-out for stories; give them an interesting one. If you can come up with an interesting story about you and your book and tell it in an equally interesting way, you can be well on your way to marketing your work in front of a very huge audience.
Marketing your book is not without its challenges, but it is also not without its rewards. Do it right and you will start feeling the difference in your profit margin.
