With the largest laptop screen available to date, this big laptop does not tend to fall victim to massive, plastic constructions. Home theater enthusiasts will love the 18.4 inch-1080p resolution with a built-in crisp-sounding speaker system and Blu-ray drive, while the other powering parts of the laptop will not stay short of impressive.
These powering parts include high-end AMD graphics, a second-generation Intel quad core i processor and a battery life lasting up to five hours. Since the AS8950G-9839 is all about exclusive features and unparallel quality, it has received the Editor's Choice for media center laptops.
Design
The AS8950G-9839 is an exception to all the other big laptops with plastic constructions. It is designed flawlessly with its colossal lid swathed in aluminum. Although it is not a particularly slim laptop, the aluminum has a slimming effect that masks most of its thickness that is apparent in other media center laptops.
The interior part of the laptop and the lid share the same color, while the palm rest area is colored black to set contrast. The touchpad is also designed uniquely in that a press of a button turns it into a digital remote, complete with icons that let you control movies and music playback and launch any media player.

A number of features are accommodated in the AS8950G-9839. It offers five USB ports, one of which promotes a USB 3.0 technology. In addition to this, it has a built-in Blu ray drive that is used for both playing back the latest Blu ray titles and burning DVD's. It also features a VGA, 2 megapixel webcam and the FireWire port.
Moreover, the AS8950G-9893 didn't ignore the system's audio features. It supports 5.1 Dolby surround sound and is loaded with a subwoofer and 5 speakers. Sound reliability, as you can imagine, is splendid.
The AS8950G-9838 supports Intel second-generation Core i technology. It has one of the most powerful processors of 2GHz quad core Intel Core i7-2630QM CPU.
It is also equipped with 8 GB memory that is ideal for hardcore database programmers, photoshoppers and virtualization program users. Hardcore gaming is not out of the question, as this laptop includes a great graphic chip in the AMD Radeon 6850M.
An 18.4 inch media center is certainly daunting from a size perspective, but anyone who desires the biggest screen on a laptop will love what the Acer Aspire AS8950G-9839 has to offer.
